Jetski in Ibiza

A short, punchy summary of a first-time jetski ride in Ibiza and why it turned into the highlight of the whole trip.

The moment everything changed

I had wanted to try a jetski for years, and it wasn’t until my last trip to Ibiza that I finally worked up the courage. I booked it almost on a whim, one free afternoon between beach days, without really knowing what to expect.

The first thing that surprised me was how easy the whole thing was. I had no idea how to handle a jetski, and within about ten minutes the instructor walked me through the basics: throttle, steering, how to brake. Nothing complicated, but enough to feel confident before heading out into open water.

"The moment I accelerated for the first time, any nerves I had completely disappeared."

The turquoise water, the wind on my face, the island’s coastline flying by behind me… it’s a feeling unlike anything I’d tried before. We did about a 25-minute route along the coast, and at one point we even cut the engine to float for a while and just take it all in — something I wasn’t expecting.

If I had to pick just one activity from the entire trip, it would be this one. You don’t need to be an expert or have any special fitness level, just the will to try something different. If you’re heading to Ibiza and haven’t tried it yet, do it — I promise it’s unforgettable.
